How to estimate the cost

Offset printing combines fixed setup and plate charges with variable paper, ink and press costs. Separate make-ready sheets from routine spoilage and use your actual colour/side settings.

  1. Enter parent sheet dimensions or a verified finished-pieces-per-sheet layout.
  2. Choose sides and ink colours and enter the price per printing plate.
  3. Add paper purchase cost, press and ink rates per 1,000 sheet sides.
  4. Account for make-ready sheets, spoilage, cutting and delivery.

Before you quote a customer

Actual plate counts, machine pass counts, signatures and press speeds vary. The estimator is a costing aid rather than a press scheduling or imposition system.

Use your own shop rates. The calculator is a planning estimate, not a supplier price feed, accounting invoice or guarantee of printing-machine suitability.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a smaller offset run cost more per item?

Fixed plate and press setup expenses are distributed across fewer finished pieces.

Should I add make-ready waste to production waste?

Yes, if both occur in your workflow. Count fixed setup sheets separately from the percentage of production sheets typically lost.
